Where Love Heals

Where love, heartbreak, and healing live in words

Rose Petals

When our story first began, I had no idea how magical it would become.

I wasn’t broken… but I wasn’t whole, either. I was somewhere in between—existing, moving forward, accepting the life I had built—never realizing that something inside me had quietly gone dim.

And then you appeared.

Your smile felt like sunlight finding its way through a window I didn’t even know I had closed. Our conversations—about everything and nothing at all—breathed life back into me. It’s strange, isn’t it? How I didn’t notice my heart had shut down… until you were the one who made it start beating louder again.

I was happy before you. Truly. Content. At peace with where life had taken me.
But you… you made me realize there was still more. More laughter. More connection. More feeling.

The way you listened, the way you cared—it made me want to know you deeper, in ways that both excited and terrified me. You gave me butterflies like I was young again, like love was brand new and untouched.

And the fear… God, the fear.

Fear of wanting you.
Fear of needing you.
Fear of what would happen if this worked…
and even more fear of what would happen if it didn’t.

But then… a few chapters later, you kissed me.

And everything changed.

The spinning stopped.
The darkness stilled.
Every doubt, every hesitation—it all slipped away like it had never belonged to me.

I stopped pushing away what was meant for me… and finally let myself stand in your light. That warm, incandescent glow that feels like something I was always searching for without knowing it.

I remember that night so vividly—like it’s etched into my soul.

I was wrapped in soft sea island cotton, touched with vanilla. High heels, a dress I worried was too short… overthinking, as I always do. And you—
you smelled like happiness. Like sunshine breaking through a cloudy sky.

When you held me, it felt like something heavy finally left my body. Like hope had found its way back in, and pain quietly slipped out the door.

Being near you felt like comfort. Like home. Like I had arrived somewhere I didn’t even know I was trying to reach.

You didn’t promise me anything that night…
but somehow, you gave me everything with just one kiss.

And still—
you couldn’t hold all of me.

Not the scars I carry, the ones that shaped me into who I am. Not the tenderness of a heart learning, for the very first time, how to be with someone in that way. Not the truth that this was my first real experience—not since the night something was taken from me, but the first time it was ever meant to be given. I wanted to give it to you.

You couldn’t be patient with that.
You couldn’t meet me there.

And maybe that’s where the magic shifted—
not because it wasn’t real,
but because it wasn’t strong enough to stay.

Still… I don’t regret you.

Because you reminded me that I can feel again. That my heart is still capable of opening, of softening, of wanting something more.

And even now, I carry that with me.

Because loving someone… is reminding them of their magic when they forget.

And despite everything—
I know mine still exists.
