I didn’t fall in love with a stranger on the internet.
I didn’t fall in love with the way time escaped us as we were talking.
I didn’t fall in love with the color brown because of your eyes.
I didn’t fall in love with your boundaries, or the fact that you have boundaries.
I didn’t fall in love with your pain, or your past or your laugh.
I didn’t fall in love with your voice, or the way you said my name.
I didn’t fall in love with our late night chats or your “good morning” text.
I didn’t fall in love with the way you opened my heart up and made me feel again.
I didn’t fall in love with the way I wanted to be the best version of myself because of you.
I didn’t fall in love with the ways you showed you cared.
I didn’t fall in love with the way you wanted me.
….and when we met, I didn’t fall in love with the way you touched me, or the taste of your lips,
or how our bodies reacted to each other.
I felt you in me before I ever felt your hands on my skin, but I didn’t fall in love with that.
I didn’t fall in love with a stranger on the internet, because we weren’t strangers when we met.
