Grief makes strange decisions for you.

Today,
I went back—
not all the way,
just enough.

Enough to sit across from you
and remember
how easy this feels.

How familiar.
How quiet my mind becomes
when you’re near.

For a moment,
everything stopped hurting.

And I let it.

I needed that.

But I didn’t forget.

I didn’t forget
why I left,
or what I deserve,
or how this ends
if I stay too long.

So I stayed
just long enough
to feel it—

and then I left again

I still know
which way I’m going.
